The Metro South Chamber of Commerce announces the establishment of the Metro South Community Development Corporation. A community development corporation (CDC) is a not-for-profit organization incorporated to provide programs, offer services and engage in other activities that promote and support community development. The Metro South CDC is incorporated under the Metro South Chamber of Commerce Foundation. It is located in a low/moderate income area at Sixty School Street, Brockton, MA and will serve the greater Brockton area focusing on economic development, education, workforce development and housing. “The Chamber currently engages in these important areas as they relate to economic development. For example, we provide business assistance, workforce development, access to the Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office (SDO) activities and space to Attorney General Martha Coakley’s HomeCorps program.” These programs, all accessible at the Chamber’s offices share a common thread, to strengthen the community and improve the economy of the Metro South region. By creating a CDC, we open up the possibility of additional resources and activities beneficial to the Metro South region”, said Chamber President and CEO, Christopher Cooney.
