Wayfinding has been on the list of desired upgrades for many years initiated by the Metro South Chamber of Commerce after a national downtown conference was held in Boston, and most recently became a reality through a grant the MSCC wrote and was awarded to add such signage to Brockton. It was a collaboration completed in cooperation with many people and organizations including support from the MSCC, MA Office of Business Development via REDO, the Mayor and City Planner of Brockton, DPW, Brockton Area Transit, and Sign Design.

“The Metro South Chamber is pleased to have been successful in working collaboratively with many partners to add these wayfinding signs to the city center. A special thank you goes to Sign Design for their expertise and experience in making these beautiful and informative signs a reality and the Mayor for his leadership in gaining the approvals necessary to allow installation of all fifteen signs in downtown, said Chris Cooney, President and CEO of the Metro South Chamber of Commerce.

This community linkage model is an advanced initiative with a goal of implementing a wayfinding sign system leading people to Brockton city center amenities from not only within Brockton, but to draw visitors from surrounding towns as well. The installation of these new directional signs adds to other signs the Chamber has led the way on including  the “Welcome to Brockton” signs located at several entrance points of the city, as well as the “Brockton Information Boards”.
