In August, the Metro South Chamber of Commerce hosted a memorable Business After Hours event at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton with the Rox! Attendees enjoyed an evening that began with networking, snacks, and beverages before the baseball game commenced. The highlight? Football legend Doug Flutie – Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL star – took the mound to throw the ceremonial first pitch, signed autographs, and even officially joined the Brockton Rox as a guest player by pitching to a live batter during the game!

The event wasn’t just about sports and business, it was also about community and giving back. Organized in partnership with Eastern Bank, the night featured a football-themed community challenge designed to raise funds for the House of Possibilities, a local nonprofit that supports individuals with disabilities. The playful yet purposeful competition, which involved a throw by Eastern Bank’s Quincy Miller, helped drive awareness and support for the cause. Meanwhile, Brockton’s Mayor Robert F. Sullivan declared August 21, 2025, “Doug Flutie Day in Brockton”, honoring the legendary quarterback’s contribution to the event and the community.
