What is unique or special about your firm and the products and services you offer? Creating a world where everyone has a safe, affordable, decent place to live is truly a community effort. It is thanks to the support we receive from generous donors, devoted volunteers, corporations, and local representatives that we are able to provide affordable homeownership opportunities to our hardworking neighbors. Did you know it takes over 500 volunteers to build one house? We would love to have you come build with us– no experience needed!
What is your market area? We serve 32 cities south and southeast of Boston.
What markets do you serve? We serve low to moderate income families through our Homeownership Program. Additionally, we serve the senior and veteran communities through our Critical Home Repair Program.
Please list awards, honors or special recognition your firm has received: Since our founding, South Shore Habitat has worked alongside family partners and thousands of volunteers to build over 65 affordable homes in 22 communities across Southeastern Massachusetts. We just completed a duplex-style home for two families in Cohasset this September, and are now working in North Easton to get a mother and her 3 daughters into their forever home. Looking ahead, we will be building in Abington, Marshfield, and Easton in the coming year.
What is your main business objective concerning your customers and the business community? Our main objective is to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. A house is so much more than just a home – it means the ability to plan for the future, better educational opportunities, and financial stability. By spending no more than 30% of their income on housing costs, these homeowners have the ability to save and work towards a better future for their family. In building affordable homes, we are building stronger, more sustainable communities. Through the generosity of individuals, corporations, and organizations, we are able to bring communities together to serve their neighbors and work towards a common goal – affordable, accessible housing for all.
Anything additional we should know about your company? There are so many ways the local community can support our mission. Whether it is volunteering on a build site, donating, or bringing your company/organization out for a Group Build Day, every effort gets us closer to getting the next family into their new home!
