The Metro South Chamber’s February Good Morning Metro South breakfast brought members together in Brockton for a milestone morning centered on leadership, investment, and the city’s continued momentum.

The program featured keynote remarks from Moises Rodrigues, Brockton’s newly elected and first mayor of color. He shared his vision for the city’s future, outlining priorities around economic development, housing, public safety, and strengthening partnerships with the business community. His remarks reflected a renewed sense of energy and direction as Brockton builds on recent progress.

The event also included a ribbon cutting celebrating the grand opening of one of the city’s newest hotels – a major addition to Brockton’s hospitality landscape and a strong signal of private investment. Formerly a Holiday Inn Express, the property has been converted to Garner by IHG, featuring refreshed spaces, pet-friendly accommodations, and new amenities, while remaining part of the IHG family. Locally owned and managed by Jiten Hotel Management, the investment reflects continued confidence in Brockton’s growth.

Adding to the excitement, attendees heard from Greta Teller, Director of Community Celebrations for FIFA Boston 2026. Greta touched on the tourism numbers, spending, and overall economic impact coming to the region along with the World Cup Games, in addition to how businesses can get involved. Haiti will be playing right here in Massachusetts!

Guests also briefly heard from Jammy Torres Millet, Manager of Fan Experience for Boston Legacy Football Club (Boston Women’s Pro Soccer Team) who highlighted the club’s new practice facility calling Brockton home – a major win for the city. FIFA soccer balls were gifted to attendees as door prizes, a fun nod to the global stage ahead.

The Chamber also recognized event sponsor SCU Credit Union for its continued investment in the region. President Glenn Parsons shared updates on the credit union’s project at 1300 Belmont Street, reinforcing SCU’s long-term commitment to Brockton. He also highlighted how SCU supports small businesses through commercial vehicle and equipment lending, helping local entrepreneurs grow and scale. In addition, Parsons spoke about the credit union’s “Free to Be” partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South, underscoring SCU’s focus on financial empowerment and meaningful community impact.

The Chamber also thanks Garner Hotel for hosting and providing a breakfast and dynamic meeting space for area businesses, visitors, and residents alike.
