In March, the Metro South Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with SCU Credit Union, proudly hosted the 11th Annual Multicultural Business Forum & Business After Hours in Brockton. The event brought together a strong mix of business owners, professionals, and community leaders for an evening centered on entrepreneurship, resource-sharing, and regional economic growth. #WhereBetterBegins

The program opened with remarks from Shelly Gillis of the U.S. Small Business Administration, who highlighted the wide range of programs and services available to help small businesses start, scale, and succeed. Her remarks emphasized practical tools, access to capital, and the importance of strong business fundamentals in today’s economy. Representing the event’s presenting sponsor, Richard Hooke of SCU Credit Union followed by reinforcing the organization’s commitment to supporting local businesses and building long-term relationships within the community.

A highlight of the evening was the panel discussion featuring a group of accomplished small business owners who shared their experiences navigating the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship. Panelists included Dr. Sahar Mostafavi of Sharon Orthodontics, Claudie Philemond of Nath Academy Learning Center, and Jacquelyn Rose of BuzzAround. The discussion focused on business development, adapting to changing markets, and lessons learned from building and growing successful enterprises. Attendees gained valuable insights and practical takeaways they could apply to their own businesses.

The business expo portion of the evening offered additional opportunities for networking and connection. Exhibitors included Bay Colony Development Corp, Brockton Rox, GleeWorks, Cape Verdean Association of Brockton, Greater Brockton Young Professionals, HR Alternatives, New Heights Charter School, the U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE Mentors, Rotary Club of Brockton, and South Eastern Economic Development Corp (SEED). The expo created a space for attendees to learn about available resources, explore partnerships, and expand their professional networks.

Throughout the evening, the energy in the room reflected a shared commitment to strengthening the local business community. From the panel discussion to the expo floor, the event provided meaningful opportunities for connection, collaboration, and growth.

The Metro South Chamber extends its sincere thanks to SCU Credit Union for their partnership, as well as to all speakers, exhibitors, and attendees who helped make the event a success. Special thanks to Rich Morgan Photography for capturing the evening.
