The Metro South Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome Ian Abreu as its new Director of Business Development & Engagement, where he will lead initiatives to strengthen regional business networks, enhance member engagement, and support economic growth throughout the Metro South region.
Ian brings more than a decade of chamber work experience to the role. Most recently, he served as Director of Business Development at the One SouthCoast Chamber of Commerce, where he played a key role in expanding membership, strengthening retention strategies, and building meaningful connections with small and medium-sized businesses. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management (IOM), a nationally recognized professional development program for chamber and nonprofit leaders.
In addition to his chamber experience, Ian has experience running his family business, Silmo Syrup, and in elected public service serving as an AtLarge City Councilor in New Bedford.
Ian is a graduate of Bridgewater State University with a degree in Communication Studies. He lives in Southeastern Massachusetts with his wife, Samantha, and their children, Adriah and Hunter.
