





September 24, 2026 – The Metro South Chamber of Commerce welcomed business and community leaders to Thorny Lea Golf Club for Good Day Metro South, an economic development luncheon sponsored by Rockland Trust. The program brought together regional leaders to discuss new leadership, innovative energy solutions for manufacturers, and the future of Brockton High School. The event was emceed by Chamber Chair George Spilios.
The event opened with a New Faces Panel, moderated by Chamber Board Director Scott Sanborn, featuring Elijah Romulus, Interim Director of Planning & Community Development for the City of Brockton; Juan Osorio, CEO of Mayflower Council, Scouting America; and Carole Martyn, Interim President & CEO of United Way of Greater Plymouth County. The panel provided an opportunity to learn more about the leaders’ roles, their organizations, and the work they are undertaking throughout the Metro South region.
The program continued with a discussion on on-site battery storage and its potential to reduce peak energy costs for manufacturers. Elson Bankoff from Powertown was joined by manufacturers Joe Mulvey, Facilities Manager at Crown Uniform & Linen Service and Elio Silva, Owner of Vineyard Farm/North Star Distributors to discuss the technology, its potential applications, and how innovative energy solutions can help businesses manage operating costs.
The luncheon also featured an interview with Matt Collins, Vice President, Small Business Administration Development Officer at Rockland Trust. Collins brings more than 30 years of experience in SBA lending, commercial credit, portfolio management, and business development. He discussed small business financing and the resources available to businesses looking to grow and invest.
The program concluded with an overview of the new Brockton High School building project, presented by Kevin Sullivan, Owner’s Project Manager with LeftField, LLC. Sullivan provided an update on the project and its significance for the Brockton community. (slides available here)
