Incorporated in 1874, the town of Rockland, located in Plymouth County, is 20 miles south of Boston and has a population of 17,489 residents. Founded as an agricultural community, the town later flourished as a major shoe manufacturer. Since the 19th century, the town has been an industrial community. However areas of the town remain wooded to give residents a rural feeling.
