As September marches on, there’s a lot to both celebrate and look forward to around Metro South. If you haven’t had a chance to catch the Action Report yet, here’s a roundup of what’s already happened, plus what’s ahead.

  • Good News & Member Wins
    • Brockton Area Transit (BAT) will continue offering fare-free fixed-route, ADA paratransit, and senior services through June 2026, thanks to support from the Fair Share Amendment and the MA Legislature. (Read more)
    • The “Business After Hours” event at Campanelli Stadium (with Eastern Bank & the Brockton Rox) was a hit. Doug Flutie threw the ceremonial first pitch and mingled with attendees. (Read more)
    • We said goodbye (and a heartfelt thanks) to Brenda Carrens of OCES, who has retired after many years of service as a Chamber Ambassador. (Read more)
  • Leadership & Capacity Building
    • Congrats to Emma Penardi, Vice President of Communications & Special Projects, for graduating from the Institute for Organization Management (IOM), a top leadership training program from the U.S. Chamber. (Read more)
  • Major Announcements
    • BAT After-Hours Workforce Transportation Program launched, providing subsidized late-night rides (9 PM–6 AM) in many Metro South communities, supporting 2nd & 3rd shift workers. (Read more)
    • Father Bill’s & MainSpring received a historic $5 million gift from the Alvarium Foundation to fund housing developments + supportive services in Southern Massachusetts. (Read more)

  • Upcoming Events
    • Good Day Metro South — September 25, Thorny Lea Golf Club, Brockton. Hear about the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” & the new Business Front Door online portal.
    • 35th Annual Legislative & Candidates Reception — October 9, Stonehill College in Easton. Free, public event. A chance to connect with public officials and business leaders.
    • Tracks to Transformation: MSCC & NEREJ Summit — October 30 in Randolph. Keynote by MBTA CEO Phillip Eng. Topics include mixed-use development, transit equity, and more.
    • 112th Annual Meeting & Business Expo — November 19, Multipurpose Auditorium @ Adult & Teen Challenge, Brockton. A premier networking event with hundreds of business leaders, keynote speaker on AI, economic impact award presentations, and an exhibitor showcase.
  • Things to Keep in Mind
    • Membership renewals & new members: a number of businesses have joined or renewed — it’s always good to check out who’s new to the Chamber and welcome them.
